Swift SMS Gateway® makes every effort to respect end-user consumer privacy in accordance with government compliance. As a text message service provider, the scope that we are a data processor is limited to the role of facilitating the transit of text messaging via A2P (Application to Person) connection into mobile operators, which is deemed as transactional data.
The retention of Text Message Records comprise of two components: 1. MDR (Message Detail Records) The content, 2. CDR (Call Detail Records) The phone numbers, related status of message receipt, and time stamp information. Any resulting storage of these two components are a bi-product of any such aggregation service that facilitates transit. Swift SMS Gateway® is not paid to retain MDR, CDR and as such, deem these bi-products to have zero value, nor do we sell, or re-market these components to third parties. Our use of CDR (Call Detail Records) is critical information collected for accounting purposes to determine message usage costs. The CDR elements are granted to Swift SMS Gateway® under the principals of Fair and Reasonable Use. With the privilege of being granted these rights, Swift SMS Gateway® makes every effort to abide by the principal of Data Minimization. We only ask for client and text message data that is essential in facilitating our services.
Past the service period of 90 days, Swift SMS Gateway® ‘s policy is to “scrub” text message records of the MDR elements through the process of redaction. Specifically, the message detail (aka the text string) is replaced with a standard message overwrite of the original content. Business clients that request exception to our service practices, in such that Swift SMS Gateway does not perform redaction, do so under special acknowledgement of amended contractual terms only and acknowledge that doing so does not provide them exemption from their obligations to respect end-user consumer privacy in accordance with government compliance.
